About Our School |
|
We are conveniently located on Route 27, between Main Street and Towne Mall, behind the empty Wheeler’s car lot. Google Map Directions Our school has over 4,000 square feet and accommodates two traditional, spacious studios. Wall to wall mirrors and barres allow students to visually correct technique and body alignment. An expansive waiting area allows family members to relax and chat with other parents while their dancers are taking class. A closed-circuit TV camera allows for observation of dancers in class. Observation days are scheduled which provides students with a first performing experience. The family atmosphere that permeates Reflections in Dance is one of caring and nurturing. A helpful front desk receptionist greets students and parents and can answer your questions promptly. We will operate in accordance with the rules and policies as established by the school. Since ballet is the foundation for all dance forms, it is recommended for ALL students. Our ballet syllabus combines the best of the Russian (Vaganova), Italian (Cecchetti) and Balanchine (American) schools. Our program is divided into levels which enable students to advance based on ability and experience; young children are usually grouped by age. POINTE: Reputable ballet schools DO NOT place students “on pointe” at an early age (10 or under, usually) or after only a few years of training. To do so is to put unnatural stress on the dancers young bones and muscles. Pre-pointe students must take 2 classes per week to build strength and prepare for new challenges. Students who choose to take other dance forms are also grouped by ability and experience. Our teachers will also instruct students individually when a student is in need due to limitations or if he/she needs an extra challenge. Individual attention is given to each and every student specifically to ensure maximum potential for their body. We emphasize correct placement to eliminate injuries due to unnecessary stress depending upon each dancers physical abilities. Students receive a solid technical education and learn discipline through our diverse and energetic classes. We believe that learning should be structured and disciplined, but it can still be fun!
